2007-08 Heroes & ProspectsThe future of hockey is bright and the young stars have come to shine in the 2007-08 edition of Heroes and Prospects from In The Game!
Since the 2004-05 campaign, the Toronto-based trading card manufacturer has been issuing this product line and it has become a core brand for both die-hard and casual collectors. Loaded with autographs and pieces of game-used memorabilia, collectors have come to expect bang for their buck and Heroes and Prospects will deliver it once again.
With an all-new base card design with a retro twist, collectors are sure to be appreciate the mix of hockey icons and today's top players from the AHL, CHL and international scene. There will be 100 standard base set cards plus an exciting 40-card subset featuring most players that participated in the 2007 Home Hardware CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game along with a pair of CHL graduates that have played in the contest in recent years.
Each of these cards contains an oversized swatch from a jersey used in that contest and makes set building an appealing and exciting challenge. Limited to less than 400 copies each and seeded once in every 20 hobby packs (higher ratios apply for Arena packs and Blaster Boxes), they are sure to be chased after by both player collectors and set builders.
"We decided to push the envelope slightly with the Heroes and Prospects base set this season and wanted to offer collectors even more value in every box," said In The Game President Dr. Brian H. Price.
There is also the new CHL Duals subset which takes a current or recent junior player and pairs them up with a legend that played for the same club.
Many of the standard base set cards will also have an Autograph parallel. Many players will be signing in this product for the first time and if past products are any indication, some of these cards are destined for the hot list! Look for several of the top draft prospects for 2008 including Steven Stamkos, Drew Doughty, Zachary Boychuk, Michael Del Zotto and Yann Sauve and Autograph cards can be found once in every 16 hobby packs (higher ratios apply for Arena packs and Blaster Boxes).
The future of hockey is bright and the young stars are about to glitter Another great feature of Heroes and Prospects is the selection of outstanding and attractive Game-Used Memorabilia cards. For the third year in a row, the Game-Used Jersey cards will feature a large swatch from a game-used jersey and the 60 different featured players are sure to appeal to prospect hunters. There will also be Game-Used Emblem and Game-Used Number cards which often include colorful pieces that have strong visual appeal.
New to the Heroes and Prospects memorabilia lineup are the My Country, My Team, Gloves Are Off and Canada/Russia Challenge collections. My Country, My Team takes players that have represented Canada at the international level and features two pieces of game-used memorabilia which have been taken from their national and club jerseys. Gloves Are Off gives you the leather as pieces of game-used gloves from some of hockey's best young prospects are available on an attractive design. Canada/Russia Challenge is a salute to the amazing junior talents that took part in the 2006 ADT Canada/Russia Challenge and depicts players from the OHL, QMJHL and WHL.
Returning once again for another season are several Game-Used Memorabilia collections and they're better than ever! For fans of our lineup of today's top stars in their junior or minor league uniforms, Heroes Memorabilia gives you a shot at a piece of their game-used equipment while Net Prospects depicts many of today's most popular young netminders such as Carey Price, Tuukka Rask and Justin Pogge.
Multiple swatches also abound in Double Memorabilia and Triple Memorabilia, collections that pair up top young stars that are sure to make an impact now or in the future. Throw in Complete Jersey with either three or four pieces from a player's sweater and the roster of memorabilia cards will dazzle even the most experienced of collectors.
Last year's release of Heroes and Prospects saw the introduction of the Quad Emblem cards and collectors immediately started buzzing about this amazing set. With four premium pieces from game-used jerseys and a limited nature, there was a lot of excitement over them and they're back again in 2007-08 with even more collectible combinations.
Finally, we come to Complete Logo and longtime collectors of Heroes and Prospects are well-aware of these amazing cards. Each one contains a complete CHL or AHL logo from the depicted player's jersey and are limited to one copy each!
Heroes and Prospects will also feature non-memorabilia insert sets once again this season. Among the offerings will be the ever-popular Calder Cup Champions (available in Hobby packs) and Memorial Cup Champions (available in Arena packs) cards along with a new concept called Tavares' Firsts which examines some of the most exciting moments thus far in the junior career of John Tavares - one of the hottest prospects in the hobby today.
The ever-popular He Shoots, He Scores Decoy/Redemption Card Program will be available once again. One redemption card will be included in each pack that does not contain a game-used memorabilia card. These extra-thick cards help deter pack searching and each comes with a value of one point. All CHL and AHL teams are depicted this season, including several new franchises! Collectors who accumulate 250 points will have the opportunity to redeem them for unique and limited game-used memorabilia cards which are not available in packs. They will also be available in all levels of packs for the first time in 2007-08!
Releasing in December, 2007, Heroes and Prospects will be quite limited, so don't delay in placing your order. Each Hobby box will contain 24 packs and contain five cards plus one decoy or Game-Used Memorabilia card. Odds listed above for Autograph and Game-Used Memorabilia cards are for the entire production run and are not guaranteed in any individual box or cases.
